Real Jesuit missionaries appear in 1579 Japan; one is written as a secret Templar, but only as a minor figure.
Set in Sengoku-era Japan, the game includes the historical Jesuits Alessandro Valignano and Luís Fróis, and the arrival of Christianity and Portuguese firearms shapes its world. Yasuke begins as Valignano's servant before Nobunaga takes him on. The Assassin's Creed franchise has long written Valignano as a Templar who used his Jesuit position to recruit and forced his rival Cabral out of the mission.
