Devil May Cry
Determination: Implied — Blasphemy 2
The devil at the end of the game sits enthroned in a cathedral, wearing the face of God the Father.
The religious content in the first Devil May Cry is visual and it is deliberate. Mallet Island's castle contains a cathedral described in the castle's own records as defiled — a statue of a god vanished from the altar and the interior was warped by a strange power. Mundus himself lies dormant in a statue in the main hall, which Dante dismisses as a depiction of the local god. When he finally appears he does so as a young three-eyed angel with white feathered wings, and fights as a giant bearded winged figure resembling the common Christian image of God the Father, in a throne room built as a bright marble cathedral with a cheerful organ hymn playing. Capcom's design commentary is explicit that the godlike silhouette was the point, and that the crumbling second form exists to contrast with it.
