The expansion's final boss is an archangel, and the player kills him.
Diablo III moves the conflict upward. The Angiris Council governs the High Heavens; Tyrael, the Archangel of Justice, gives up his wings to stand with humanity; and the campaign's climax takes place inside Heaven itself, where the player kills Diablo. Reaper of Souls goes further: Malthael, formerly the Archangel of Wisdom and the Council's leader, returns calling himself the Angel of Death, kills the Horadrim, raises an army of Reapers from renegade angels and enslaved spirits, and is killed by the player as the expansion's final boss. Along the way the player fights through the Zakarum cathedral at the centre of Westmarch.
