A Church whose Cardinal is a demon and whose Templars hunt heretics is revealed to have fabricated its own Saint — and the game is told as the history it covered up.
Told as a suppressed historical account, the game follows Ramza Beoulve through a civil war that the Church of Glabados is quietly engineering. Cardinal Delacroix, the Church's second-in-command, transforms into a demon when confronted; the Church's Knights Templar are likewise possessed and pursue Ramza as a Heretic. Ramza gathers proof that the Church's central holy figure, Saint Ajora, was a lie, and finally destroys the demon the Templars are trying to resurrect.
