Path of Exile 2

Determination: Implied — Corruption 2

The god Sin is a character you travel with, and his purpose was to suppress the gods so humanity could be free of them.

Path of Exile 2 keeps the setting's religious architecture but changes how the player meets it. The hooded figure who accompanies the early campaign is revealed to be Sin — the same Genesis-serpent figure the first game set against its Templar theocracy — and the player finds him praying in a ruined temple before he states his identity. He created the Beast, a divine but mindless being made to suppress all gods and stop them destroying humanity through their strife, and his hope was that humanity would grow without divine interference. Count Geonor's corruption of Ogham, fed by executions and excavated corpses, is the immediate plot, but the frame is the same theological one.
